It's Christmas!
Yes, It's that time of year again & we're all looking forward to Santa!

In lieu of Christmas Cards & Gifts this year, we made the decision to donate to 3 very worthy charities on behalf of our customers. We made a donation on your behalf to Simon, Saint Vincent de Paul & the Milford Care Centre here in Limerick.
All 3 charities do amazing work close to home, and your donation will bring Hope & Help this Christmas.

A Corkman in Dublin in November!
No, nothing to do with hurling (that'd be September!). The 28th MEETA National Maintenance Conference is taking place on Friday 18th Nov. It is about "Getting the fundamentals right" and is takes place at Engineers Ireland, Education Centre, 22 Clyde Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4.
Tony is going to be there to show how his IDEAS systems will solve our problems!
His session will quickly show participants how to create a common approach to solving problems in every type of workplace. Innovation in the workplace stems from each employee practicing formal problem-solving daily. Participants will learn how to create the formal problem-solving process using the IDEAS System and commence a culture of creativity, innovation and continuous improvement in their own workplace.
Tony Corrigan is an Associate Trainer at ESS Ltd. He has an outstanding track record in the manufacturing sector, having trained thousands of people worldwide in improvement techniques. He has been working in the area of complex problem solving, creativity & innovation for more than 15 years and designed the I.D.E.A.S. system - a breakthrough approach to continuous improvement, specifically for application in manufacturing environments. A Manufacturing Engineer by profession, Tony is currently doing his PhD in Lean Construction at TU Delft in the Netherlands.

Paul Wheelhouse has been busy
November might be associated with rain and cold and the run down to Christmas usually but for Paul Wheelhouse, this month is all about something new . He has just published his latest book - Excellence in Maintenance Management and we've bought some copies already and what is more have started to read them! You can buy some too by clicking here

ESS Ltd. to deliver module on the Bachelor of Engineering
ESS Ltd. are delighted to again be working with Limerick Institute of Technology (LIT), commencing this October 2011.
ESS Ltd. will be delivering the Manufacturing Maintenance module for the degree course of the Bachelor of Engineering in Manufacturing Technology (Fetac Level 7).
Among the objectives for students are that they will be able to:
1. Explain the function and strategies of maintenance in manufacturing industry.
2. Organise a maintenance planning and control system.
3. Compare and select computerised maintenance management systems(CMMS).

ESS Ltd. to chair the NSAI Committee on Asset Management.
Following a meeting by the NSAI on September 13th, our very own Ray O’Neill, MD with ESS Ltd. has been asked to chair the NSAI Committee on Asset Management.
The work to put in place an ISO standard on Asset Management - ISO 55001- continues. There are some 24 countries involved in drafting the standard which is currently in Working Draft Format. Expected launch of the ISO standard is 2014.
Ray has been nominated by the NSAI to chair the Irish Mirror Committee, tracking the progress of the development of the standard and giving technical input/guidance and suggestions for improvement from Ireland.

International Markets Week 2011International Markets Week provides an opportunity for ESS Ltd. to meet with Enterprise Ireland's international marketing staff to discuss our export sales strategy. Grainne and Ray will attend and one of the areas they will be exploring is what EI consider are the effects of the Agency Workers Directive on the UK's contract workers.
