Refrigeration Principles & Systems Course (Fetac Level 6)

The ESS Ltd. Refrigeration Principles & Systems course is a 4 day course which allows learners to achieve a Fetac Level 6 Component Certificate in Refrigeration Principles & Systems (C31903).

Learners who successfully complete this Refrigeratin Systems Course will:

Gain a working knowledge and understanding of Refrigeration Principles
Be able to identify standard Refrigeration Plant Components
Understand the function of Refrigeration Plant Components
Be capable of interpreting schematic diagrams related to refrigeration plants
Understand the properties of common refrigerants
Be familiar with mechanical and electrical/electronic refrigerant flow controls
Gain a working knowledge and understanding of Refrigeration Principles
Understand the function, construction, principle of operation and application of refrigeration operation and safety controls
Acquire the theoretical knowledge to be able to locate and diagnose faults in refrigeration equipment and controls
Be capable of maintaining the efficient operation of refrigeration plants
Understand the Health and Safety Laws
Be familiar with the implications of the Health and Safety Laws for the users of refrigeration plants and equipment

The 4 day course is broken down into 6 individual units:

Unit 1: Refrigeration Principles
Unit 2: System Components
Unit 3: Refrigeration Systems
Unit 4: Refrigeration Properties
Unit 5: Controls
Unit 6: Health and Safety

Course Delivery:
The course will be delivered over 4 days with the instructor, including both theory & practical course work & examinataions.

Fetac Certification

This programme is a FETAC component (minor) award, certified at Level 6 on the national framework of qualifications. FETAC (Further Education and Training Awards Council) give people the opportunity to gain recognition for learning in education or training centres, in the work place and in the community.

Fetac Assessment

This course will be run as a FETAC Certified course at Level 6. Delegates who wish to achieve a FETAC component certificate will be assessed on;

Examination (Practical)
Examination (Theory Based)
Skills Demonstration

The FETAC Assessment periods are January, May, August and November. FETAC issue certificates within approx. 3-4 months of each assessment period. Candidates will be issued with a letter showing successful completion of the course while waiting for FETAC Award.
