A huge well done & congratulations to all the entries for the ESS Sponsored Meeta/Engineers Ireland Maintenance Student Awards, the standard was sublime!
Overall winner and once again congratulations to David Pender who partnered with Irish Rail to investigate and complete “a feasibility study into the use of condition based maintenance on rail vehicle doors”. The project showed a 20% reduction man hours assigned to maintenance tasks by moving to condition based maintenance and an improvement in the performance of the doors post fault repair.
Also congratulations to the runners up, Patrick Murphy who “implemented a condition monitoring system to optimise the performance of an Edwards RV Rotary Vane Pump”. And to Damien McAuliffe who completed his project on “Incinerator Scrubber System Analysis and Optimisation”.
