The business environment is becoming ever more challenging with increased competition; environmental & sustainability concerns; more legislation and regulation; technological change; and the demand for ever greater financial returns. The need for assets to perform reliability, safely and cost-effectively as required has never been greater. However, in many organisations there is often disjointed communication between stakeholders and a poor understanding of risk. This leads to too many surprises which are at odds with the lean and six-sigma aims of dependability and repeatability. Nevertheless, it doesn’t have to be this way.
