Grainne is a highly experienced Human Resources Manager having worked in senior positions in both the UK and Ireland over a 25 year career and has been with ESS Ltd in the Maintenance and Asset Care services sector for almost 20 of those years!
At the ESS Group – Grainne was initially responsible for recruiting both ESS staff and client staff across all industry sectors along with advising the ESS Ltd. Management Team on HR, employment law and employee relations issues.
Grainne, commenced as Recruitment Manager in ESS Ltd. in 1999 and was promoted in 2004 to Business Operations and Human Resources Manager, which entails her being a dedicated resource to oversee contract start-up and contract review at new and existing client facilities. Grainne was a senior member of the project team involved in the acquisition of Eirdata into the ESS group in 2013 and her scope now includes HR and Operational responsibilities across both companies.
Grainne holds a Level 8 Diploma in Personnel Management from University College Cork, where she was awarded the O’Rahilly prize for Best Student. She is also a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and is currently undertaking a Diploma in Employment Law with the Law Society.
How has Covid impacted your role in ESS?
Over the past couple of years, as with all businesses, we have been presented with some challenges due to the Covid pandemic. Thankfully as a business we are very busy supporting essential industries and sectors which have continued to operate such as food / beverage manufacturing, pharmaceutical, medical device, education and healthcare. However we are not immune from Covid and it has been a balancing act of operating safely within the public health guidelines and looking after the health and welfare of all our personnel whilst still maintaining high standards of delivering and exceeding our customer’s expectations. It is through the hard work and dedication of our staff we have continued to operate successfully and expand during 2020 and 2021.
